At Garmentora, quality isn’t an afterthought — it’s engineered into every stage of production to meet the exacting standards of US retailers, e-commerce brands, and American consumers. CPSIA compliance, ASTM testing, and AQL inspections are built into every order.
In the ready-made garments industry, quality defines everything — brand reputation, customer loyalty, return rates, and ultimately, profitability. A single quality failure can result in costly returns, damaged retailer relationships, and lost consumer trust. That’s why Garmentora has invested heavily in building one of the most comprehensive quality management systems in the South Asian RMG sector.
Our quality assurance program is built on the Total Quality Management (TQM) philosophy, where quality responsibility is distributed across every team member and every process — not confined to a final inspection checkpoint. From incoming raw material inspection through in-line process monitoring to final product audit, we employ a multi-layered approach that catches defects at their source and prevents them from propagating through the production chain.
Our quality team consists of trained inspectors, technicians, and quality engineers who operate independently from the production team. This organizational independence ensures objective quality assessments without production pressure. Every inspector undergoes thorough initial training and annual refresher training covering inspection techniques, defect classification, measurement methods, and AQL sampling procedures.
The result of this comprehensive approach is consistently low defect rates across all production — significantly better than industry averages. Our clients experience fewer returns, higher customer satisfaction, and stronger retail partnerships as a direct result of our quality commitment.
Incoming Material Inspection
Every fabric roll is inspected using the 4-point system upon receipt from suppliers. We check for weaving defects, color consistency (shade variation within and between rolls), fabric weight, width, and shrinkage. Trims including zippers, buttons, threads, and labels are inspected for functionality, color match, and dimensional accuracy. Materials failing inspection are rejected and returned to suppliers with detailed defect reports.
Spreading & Cutting Inspection
During fabric spreading, we verify lay height, ply count, and fabric alignment. After cutting, we perform random checks on cut pieces against patterns to verify dimensional accuracy, notch placement, and drill hole positioning. Cutting defects caught at this stage prevent cascading quality issues downstream in sewing.
In-Line Sewing Inspection
Roving quality inspectors patrol production lines continuously, checking workmanship at every operation. We inspect stitch density (SPI), seam alignment, component attachment, and construction accuracy against approved samples. Defective units are returned immediately to operators for correction, and recurring issues trigger production line stops and re-training.
End-of-Line Inspection
Every completed garment undergoes a 100% visual inspection before leaving the sewing floor. Inspectors check the complete garment against an approved sample for construction quality, measurements, symmetry, and overall appearance. Garments not meeting standards are sorted for repair or rejection.
Washing & Finishing Inspection
For garments requiring wash treatments, we inspect post-wash for shade consistency, shrinkage compliance, and hand feel. During finishing (pressing, steaming, folding), we check for presentation quality, crease placement, and overall garment appearance. Iron burns, water spots, and pressing defects are carefully monitored.
Measurement Audit
A statistical sample from each size and color is measured against the approved size specification sheet. We measure 15-25 critical points per garment depending on style complexity. Measurements must fall within agreed tolerance ranges, which are typically ±0.5 inch for critical measurements and ±0.75 inch for non-critical points.
Final Random Inspection (AQL)
Before packing, an independent quality audit team conducts a final inspection following ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 (ISO 2859-1) sampling procedures. Standard inspection level is AQL 2.5 for major defects and AQL 4.0 for minor defects. Critical defects — including safety hazards, incorrect labeling, and foreign objects — have zero tolerance. Only lots passing the AQL audit are approved for packing and shipment.
Testing for color retention under washing, rubbing (wet and dry), perspiration, light exposure, and water. Ensuring colors won’t bleed, fade, or transfer during consumer use.
Shrinkage and stretching tests after washing and drying to verify garments maintain their size and shape over repeated laundering cycles.
Tensile strength, tear resistance, burst strength, and seam slippage testing to ensure durability meets performance requirements.
Martindale and random tumble pilling tests to predict how fabric surfaces will perform over time with regular wear and washing.
Fabric weight verification and fiber composition analysis to confirm materials match purchase specifications.
Testing for restricted substances including AZO dyes, formaldehyde, heavy metals, pH levels, and other chemicals regulated under REACH, CPSIA, and OEKO-TEX standards.
Quality Management System certification ensuring consistent quality processes, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction across all operations.

FAQ
We follow ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 (ISO 2859-1) sampling procedures with AQL 2.5 for major defects, AQL 4.0 for minor defects, and zero tolerance for critical defects including safety hazards and incorrect labeling.
We have 7 inspection checkpoints: incoming material inspection, spreading and cutting inspection, in-line sewing inspection, end-of-line inspection, washing and finishing inspection, measurement audit, and final random AQL inspection.
Yes, our in-house lab tests for colorfastness (washing, rubbing, perspiration, light), dimensional stability (shrinkage), tensile and tear strength, pilling resistance, GSM verification, and basic chemical compliance. For accredited results, we partner with SGS, Bureau Veritas, and Intertek.
We maintain ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management), BSCI, WRAP, OEKO-TEX Standard 100, GOTS, and Sedex/SMETA certifications — all verified through regular third-party audits.
We ensure all children’s garments meet CPSIA requirements including lead content limits, phthalate restrictions, fabric flammability testing, and proper tracking labels. Third-party testing is coordinated through our accredited lab partners.
Our defect rate is consistently well below industry averages thanks to our multi-stage inspection process and Total Quality Management approach. Our high first-pass AQL rate means the vast majority of production passes final inspection on the first attempt.
Yes, our quality team operates independently from the production team. This organizational separation ensures objective quality assessments without production pressure, which is critical for maintaining consistent standards.
We measure 15-25 critical points per garment depending on style complexity. Tolerances are typically ±0.5 inch for critical measurements (chest, waist, length) and ±0.75 inch for non-critical points.
We test for restricted substances including AZO dyes, formaldehyde, heavy metals, pH levels, and other chemicals regulated under REACH, CPSIA, and OEKO-TEX standards. Our OEKO-TEX certification confirms safety for all ages including babies.
Absolutely. We accommodate client-specific quality protocols, tighter AQL levels, additional testing requirements, and specific inspection criteria. Many US retailers have detailed quality manuals that we integrate into our processes.
Defective units identified during inspection are sorted for repair or rejection. Reworkable defects are corrected and re-inspected. Irreparable defects are scrapped. Root cause analysis is conducted to prevent recurrence. We bear the cost of quality failures.
Yes, every shipment includes a complete quality documentation package: final inspection report, measurement audit results, AQL sampling data, test reports, and photographic evidence of finished product quality.
