Garment Sampling & Prototyping from Bangladesh

Transform your designs from concept to tangible product with Garmentora’s rapid sampling services in Bangladesh — delivering production-ready samples to US addresses via DHL/FedEx within 7-10 business days.

The Foundation of Successful Production

Sampling is arguably the most critical phase in the garment production lifecycle. It’s the bridge between design concept and bulk manufacturing — the stage where fabric selection is validated, construction methods are tested, fit is perfected, and production feasibility is confirmed. A well-executed sampling process prevents costly mistakes in bulk production, reduces time-to-market, and ensures the final product matches your brand’s quality expectations.

At Garmentora, our dedicated sampling department operates as a separate unit with its own cutting tables, sewing machines, finishing equipment, and specialized workforce. This separation from the main production floor allows our sampling team to focus entirely on development work — providing the attention to detail and creative problem-solving that sampling demands without being affected by bulk production schedules.

Our sampling team includes experienced sample makers, pattern technicians, and development coordinators who collectively bring deep garment construction expertise. They work across all product categories — from basic knit tees to complex outerwear with multiple layers, technical features, and specialty trims. This breadth of experience means we can handle virtually any design challenge you bring to us.

We understand that speed matters in fashion. Trends move fast, selling seasons have tight windows, and the ability to iterate quickly on samples can mean the difference between catching a trend and missing it entirely. That’s why we’ve optimized our sampling workflow to deliver most initial samples within 7-10 business days, with revision rounds completed in 5-7 days. For urgent needs, we offer an expedited service with 3-5 day turnaround.

Types of Samples We Produce

Different stages of the product development process require different types of samples, each serving a specific purpose. Understanding these sample types helps streamline communication and ensures you get the right sample at the right stage of development.
The first physical interpretation of your design. Proto samples are made from available fabrics (not necessarily the final production fabric) to evaluate the overall design concept, proportions, and construction approach. These are typically produced from a sketch, tech pack, or reference garment. Proto samples answer the fundamental question: ‘Does this design work as a three-dimensional garment?’ Turnaround time: 7-10 days from tech pack receipt.
Produced in the specified fit fabric (or a close approximation) in a designated sample size to evaluate garment fit on a live model or dress form. Fit samples are measured against your size specification sheet, and a detailed fit report is provided with photos and measurement data. Most styles require 1-2 fit sample iterations to achieve approved fit. We can conduct fit sessions via video call if you’re unable to attend in person. Turnaround: 7-10 days per round.
When you have a competitor product, a vintage piece, or an existing garment that you want to replicate or adapt, we create counter samples. Our team reverse-engineers the construction, identifies the fabrics and trims, and produces a sample that matches the reference while incorporating any modifications you specify. This approach is particularly useful for brands looking to improve upon existing market products.
Before committing to bulk fabric orders, we produce lab dips (color swatches dyed to match your Pantone references), hand loom samples (small fabric cuts woven to your specifications), and strike-offs (prints applied to fabric for pattern and color approval). These approval steps ensure the final production fabric matches your expectations in color, hand feel, weight, and performance.

Production-quality samples made in the actual production fabric with final trims, labels, and finishing. These are used for sales presentations, trade shows, photography, and buyer reviews. Salesman samples represent the final product quality and appearance, giving your sales team and buyers confidence in the product before committing to bulk orders. Turnaround: 10-14 days after fit approval.

The final checkpoint before bulk production begins. Pre-production samples are made using actual production materials (fabric, trims, labels, packaging) and constructed on the production line by the workers who will produce the bulk order. PPS approval confirms that the production team can replicate the approved standard at scale. No bulk production begins without written PPS approval from the client.

Our Sampling Workflow

Our sampling process is designed for clarity, efficiency, and precision. At each stage, you have full visibility and approval authority, ensuring the final product perfectly matches your vision.
01

Brief & Tech Pack Review

We review your design brief, tech pack, reference samples, and material specifications. Our development team flags any potential construction challenges and suggests solutions. We confirm the sampling timeline and cost before proceeding.

02

Pattern Development

Our pattern makers create first patterns from your specifications using CAD software. Complex styles may require 3D pattern simulation before cutting into fabric, reducing the number of physical sample iterations needed.

03

Sample Construction

Skilled sample makers construct the garment following your tech pack specifications. Each sample maker has expertise in specific product categories, ensuring the right craftsmanship for your style.

04

Internal QC Review

Before shipping, every sample undergoes internal quality review — checking measurements, construction quality, and overall appearance against the tech pack. A detailed sample report with photos and measurements accompanies every sample shipment.

05

Client Review & Feedback

Samples are shipped via express courier for your review. We welcome detailed feedback via annotated photos, written comments, or video call reviews. Our team translates your feedback into precise technical corrections for the next round.

06

Revision & Approval

Corrections are implemented and revised samples are produced within 5-7 days. Most styles achieve approval within 2-3 rounds. Once you provide written approval, the sample becomes the sealed reference standard for bulk production.

Turnaround Times & Sample Pricing

We offer competitive sampling rates with transparent pricing. Sample costs depend on style complexity, fabric requirements, and trim components. For most standard styles, sampling costs are fully credited against your bulk production order — making sampling essentially free when you proceed with production.

Standard

7–10 days

Regular turnaround for most sample types. Ideal for styles in active development.

Priority

5–7 days

Accelerated production for time-sensitive projects. Available for most product categories.

Rush

3–5 days

Express service for urgent needs. Subject to availability and additional fees.

Sample Cost Credit Policy
When you place a bulk production order for a sampled style, the sample development cost is credited in full against your production invoice. This means there’s zero upfront sampling cost for styles that proceed to production. For styles that don’t proceed, the sampling charge covers material and labor costs only — we don’t profit on sample development. Typical sample costs range from $50-150 for basic knit styles, $80-200 for woven styles, and $150-400+ for complex outerwear or technical garments. Exact quotes are provided before any work begins.

FAQ

Sampling & Prototyping FAQ

What types of samples do you produce?

We produce proto samples (first interpretation of your design), fit samples (size and fit refinement), fabric test samples (material verification), pre-production samples (final approved standard), and size set samples (graded across your full size range).

Proto samples typically take 7-10 business days from receiving your tech pack or design instructions. This includes pattern development, fabric sourcing, sample construction, and initial quality review.

Sample costs vary based on garment complexity, fabric requirements, and customization. Simple t-shirt samples are very affordable, while complex outerwear samples cost more. We provide detailed sample pricing before proceeding. Sample costs are often credited against bulk orders.

Most styles require 2-3 sampling rounds: proto sample → fit sample → pre-production sample. Simple styles may only need 2 rounds, while complex constructions may require 3-4 rounds to perfect every detail.

Samples are shipped via DHL or FedEx express courier with 3-5 business day delivery to anywhere in the USA. We provide tracking information so you can monitor delivery. Multiple samples can be consolidated into a single shipment.

Absolutely. Each sampling round is designed for feedback and iteration. We encourage detailed comments, annotated photos, and marked-up samples. Changes to fit, construction, fabric, trims, and details are all accommodated between rounds.

No, while tech packs streamline the process, we can work from sketches, reference images, or even verbal descriptions. Our pattern team develops technical specifications from your creative input.

Yes, we frequently produce the same style in 2-3 different fabrics to help clients make informed material decisions. Fabric test samples allow you to compare hand feel, drape, weight, and appearance before committing to bulk production.

Each sample ships with a detailed spec sheet showing actual measurements, construction notes, fabric details, and any deviations from the original tech pack. We also include fabric swatches and a summary of any recommendations for improvement.

Yes, after fit approval, we produce graded samples across your full size range (e.g., XS-3XL) for fit verification. This ensures proportional grading accuracy before bulk production begins.

The approved pre-production sample becomes the sealed standard against which all bulk production is measured. It’s stored in our sample library and used as the reference point during quality inspections throughout the production run.

Yes, pre-production samples can include your actual woven labels, printed care labels, hang tags, and packaging to give you a complete representation of the finished retail product.
